Our Story

The story behind an electrical business built to give 100% of profit to high-impact charities.

Our Story

Give Industries began with a question that sounded a little strange at the time: could a normal trade business be built to give away 100% of its profit, always?

The idea came from three friends, Calvin, Kat, and Jeremy, talking about effective giving, responsibility, and the good that thoughtful donations can do. Calvin was an electrician. Jeremy worked in environmental science. Kat came from theatre, community engagement, and a healthy suspicion of doing things just because they had always been done that way.

Electrical work was the practical starting point. It was a useful skill, people needed it, and it could become a real business. So the model became simple: do great electrical work, look after the team, run the business well, and direct every spare dollar of profit to charities that can turn money into real change.

In January 2019, Give Industries started trading. The first jobs were small. The first office was a home office and a shed. The early board meetings were closer to conversations on a couch than formal governance. But at the end of the first financial year, Give donated just over $10,000.

That number mattered. It showed the idea had legs.

As the business grew, the giving grew with it. Give took on larger projects, built a stronger team, moved into a warehouse, hired apprentices, strengthened governance, became triple ISO certified, registered as a Public Benevolent Institution, and kept refining the way it chooses and supports high-impact charities.

The giving philosophy has stayed steady: support charities sparking real change in the world. Over the years, Give Industries has supported global health, poverty reduction, eye health, First Nations renewable energy, child protection, and other high-impact work, including through The Life You Can Save.

The original goal was ambitious: raise $1 million for charity by 2025, then keep building toward donating $1 million every year by 2030.

In October 2025, Give Industries reached that first milestone: $1 million raised for charity through trade.

That does not make the work finished. It makes the model real. Every fitout, maintenance job, solar installation, battery project, and construction package can help prove that business spend can do more than buy a service. It can fund quality work here, and meaningful impact elsewhere.

Great work gives back. That was the idea. Now the job is to keep making it bigger, stronger, and more useful.
